This procedure is normally used in few cases, in humans and animals, because it is used in specific cases, when the "patient" has no way of recovering from an illness, is in constant suffering and will eventually die from it. In the case of animals, their owners decide to do it, but in our case, we have to choose ourselves whether to take this decision, and leave this world voluntarily in order to not suffer anymore.
