THE LAST OF US - A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE

In the current year (2024), I had the opportunity to try for the first time a video game highly recognized by the industries, which is "The Last Of Us". I'll tell you a bit about it and my opinion regarding it...

TLOU, developed by Naughty Dog in 2013 for PS3, was one of the many exclusives that console had, which was recognized as one of the best games for fans of action, adventure, and even horror.

The title is set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a global epidemic caused by a mutation of the Cordyceps fungus, which is now resistant to temperatures above 36°C. This mutation allows its transmission to humans through various factors, such as cultivated food, for example, and causes a frantic, aggressive, and devastating behavior in the hosts, who suffer intense pain due to its growth in their brains.

The protagonist, Joel Miller, ventures through these devastated areas, starting with a terrible prologue where he loses his daughter at the hands of an officer who received orders to annihilate them, but Miller was saved by his brother.

Twenty years after that event, the game reveals how the human race has lost a lot, leaving the world at the mercy of nature, while the few remaining humans have divided into: survivors and infected...

MY OPINION

The game, from the moment the prologue ends, makes it clear that it won't be about friendly environments. It immerses us in a completely destroyed world, where we'll have to rely on our reaction, search, and other skills. The environments, filled with nature reclaiming what was once its own, show us what the planet Earth would be like if it were almost empty of humans.

I consider the title to be a fantastic experience, combining Survival Horror elements with different terrifying enemies, small puzzles to progress through levels, and many open combat scenarios that often offer stealth as an alternative. The ammunition and weapons we find throughout the journey will be very scarce, reflecting the harsh reality where obtaining precious items is almost impossible.

Its soundtrack, difficulty, character development, level design, graphics, narrative, and story - EVERYTHING - is thoroughly well-done, and the love that the company put into creating what is, for me, a work of art for gaming enthusiasts, is noticeable.

There's no doubt that trying to summarize how impressive this title is can only be limited to a few characters, so I personally invite everyone who can play it to do so. Currently, the game has an adaptation for PS4 and PS5, which improved many things and allows access to the new generations of Playstation consoles
